Thanks for the advice. I didn't expect an angry rant to generate so much useful feedback. I've had a couple of mails too. They've actually been very good since they've witnessed my raging bull. So we'll see how long that last before taking it further.

I had the same problem with my old neighbours. Contact your local council and make a complaint under the Environmental Protection Act 1992. Make sure you tell them when the noise is occurring and get a reference number for the complaint.

Write a letter to your neighbours, make it sound as officious as possible and quote the reference number for the complaint.

In your letter, explain that you have made an official complaint and that if they don't rectify the problem you'll be taking them to court.

Make recordings of the noise. Keep a log of when they make noise. The more info you have the better your chances are of getting a legal remedy.

The council will send someone out to check on the noise levels, but it will take a while.

In the meantime, you could just call the guards and tell them the neighbours are dealing :)

I’ve had this problem over the years, the cops won’t do anything, it’s the council, the have to measure noise levels, I have so much symapthy for you, I remember lying in bed worrying, would it happen tonight, clenched up, unable to sleep.

Now I don’t have that problem, but I think my neighbour might be a serial killer!
